A substantial amount of fund is urgently required to run our primary initiatives smoothly. Our primary requirements are collecting materials, paying rent and subscription fees, and running an office that holds our collections.
There are many ways you can contribute to our effort. These are some options. They are not mutually exclusive— you can very well be an ally who also volunteers, or a patron who is also a contributor. We are welcome to new suggestions too.
Every good project needs solid financial backing. Our efforts will be impossible without considerable funding. Our needs are many and resources too little. We are approaching funding agencies and organizations, but we believe the biggest strength comes from the people who believe in our cause. No donation is small to us, so give generously, if you see the value of preserving our print heritage. Call us, drop us a text – we would love to meet you and explain our goals. In the absence of any organised effort to conserve and collect our printing heritage, invaluable collections are with people like you. People have saved that one manuscript, that first edition of a rare book or a design block their grandparents had collected. We wish to bring all these gems from the history under one roof. We have the expertise to value these and in turn conserve and display them for the printing enthusiasts and researchers. If you have old material related to printing and publishing in your collection, get in touch with us. We will evaluate the material and conserve it in our organisation if possible. You can donate it to us for life, or loan it for a specific period. However, our experts will take the final decision on evaluation and conservation.
If you love printing, publishing, design and the place of Bengal in print culture, you are our ally. Our goals are the same. You may think you have nothing to offer, but in reality, you can be our biggest ambassador. There are always some skills you have that will help us grow. You can help us reach more people, offer your expertise in specific projects, deliver a talk session, be part of our advisory panel – the possibilities are endless. Right now, we are in no position to pay you, we would consider your time and expertise a contribution to our cause. Let us know if you want to be with us, and we will make sure we call on you whenever there is an opportunity.
You may not want to offer your expertise, may not have the means to contribute financially but you can still help us put that extra hand on the ground when we need. No charitable organization can do the work they do without the volunteers who provide their labour of love from time to time.
